I know this is hard to see because of the plastic it is encased in. What is the purple-looking haze on the Kennedy (half-dollar?) and the dime?

    Thanks,

I believe this is toning caused by the original packaging the set is in. Fairly common. Nice coins!

The quarter and nickel look like proofs. Is it a mint set or a proof set?

    It's a proof set.

As Nathan said. These are common, they Range from Rainbow's to a very dark purple, almost black.
