Ok, here it is! Sorry for the delay, but better late than never! Here we go... For you voters, please only vote for one coin per category. For instance, pick your choice for most valuable, your choice for most unusual, your choice for best overall. In other words, you cannot vote for two coins that are in the same category. For the folks who submitted their finds, you are allowed to vote, but not for your coins. Aside from that, all the other rules apply in the same way to you. In the most valuable category, please vote for the coin you think is most valuable. Be it for it's precious metal content, date, or overall condition. Ok, that should be it! Here's the first category, MOST VALUABLE ROLL FIND From Twiggs: 1967 Canadian silver Quarter #1 From AgCollector: 1963 Benjamin Franklin half dollar #2
COOLEST PRE-1920 From codydude815: 1865 2-cent piece #3 From codydude815: 1882 Seated Liberty dime: #4 From codydude815: 1880 Morgan silver dollar #5
BEST ERROR/VARIETY From AgCollector: 1984 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln cent #6 From Car10 : 1988 Lincoln cent variety #7 (CAN BE SEEN HERE http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=29099&page=3 , as I was unable to post the picture) From me: 2002 Lincoln cent, reverse rotated about 45 degrees #8
COOLEST OVERALL From Twiggs: 2010 Olympic Loonie #11 From AgCollector: Magician's coin and Mexican coin #12 From BigsWick: 4 2005 proof Kennedy halves, 3 silver, one clad #13 That's it! Let the voting begin!
For the coolest pre-1920, I vote for the 2-cent piece as no-one would ever expect to find that in circulation.
For coolest overall, I vote for the silver proofs. I've searched over a ½ million dollars in halves so far and have only found 2 silver proofs (one was severely mutilitated), and yet this guy finds three of them in the same box.
VOTES: 0 - #1 5 - #2 4 - #3 0 - #4 2 - #5 1 - #6 1 - #7 1 - #8 0 - #9 4 - #10 0 - #11 4 - #12 1 - #13 NOTE: I will update this post everytime a vote is entered.
Most valuable I vote for the Franklin, coolest pre 20 I vote for the Morgan, best error I vote for the 84 cent, most unusual I vote for the guitar pick (sorry twiggs, but the pick is awesome ) Coolest overall I vote for the Magician's coin and Mexican coin. Neat contest. Phoenix
Thanks, Phoenix! I'm gonna try to have it every month. It's actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be! At first I thought I wouldn't have enough time, but it's really not bad. Actual contest work might have been an hour total. I'm not sure if you roll search, but anything you find this month will eligible for next month's competition!
TheBigH: The images I posted were thumbnail links to larger images; not sure if it matters at this point but I could send you larger pictures so my entries don't seem so small. I'd like to vote for the 2-cent piece in coolest pre-1920 and the guitar pick in most unusual, and abstain from catagories I'm in!
I would like to vote for the Franklin(#2) for Most Valuable. Coolest pre '20 I would give to the 2cent piece(#3)(what did you find that in a roll of?). Most Unusual the guitar pick(#10). and Coolest Overall (#12) the magicians coin. Good luck guys.
