    Howdy all...
Here is the Fr#1257 the last of the 10 cent notes I needed for the 4th Issue. This note is "near Gem" or ChCu.

Just 2 more 25 cent Washington varieties and whamo!, done with the 4th Issue completely.
Just wanted to share the pics...the difference in this note from the other 3 is that is has a large red seal and pink silk fibers in the paper.

    Regards to all...

    Howdy..
It is the "Currency Act of 1863" preceded by the Act of July 17 1862 where postage stamps were legal currency.

David Q. Bowers has a good synopsis of this in the Red Books Guide to US Currency pg 33 in the introduction.

    First Issue: AUg 21, 1862 to May 27, 1863
    Second Issue: Oct 20, 1863 to Feb 23, 1867
    Third Issue: Dec 5, 1864 to AUg 16, 1869
    Fourth Issue:
    July 14, 1869 to Feb 16, 1875
    Fith Issue: Feb 26, 1874 to Feb 15, 1875

My BDay is Feb 16th and this is one of the reasons I collect the 4th and 5th Issues of the fractionals..
    Silly huh??

    Good reading..
