I was going through my 'Numerians' and I noticed that two of the 'Silvered Antoniniani' shared the same 'reference'. Can you confirm that this is so, or have I made a mistake? RIC Vii Lugdunum (Lyons) 394 (Silvering more noticeable in hand than in the photos.) (Coin 1) (Coin 2)
Numerian Ant. Obv:– IMP C NVMERIANVS AVG, Radiate, cuirassed bust right Rev:– PAX AVGG, Pax standing left, holding olive-branch and sceptre Minted in Lugdunum (B in left field) Emission 6 Officina 2. August A.D. 283 – start A.D. 284 (Bastien dating) Reference:– Cohen 43. Bastien 539, RIC 394 Bust Type F like mine:- they also come with B in the right field which is scarcer and with military bust
Thanks @zumbly and Martin. I appreciate the confirmation. Both from the same mint but the spacing of the lettering on the reverse being somewhat different had me wondering.
@chrsmat71 Your one IS nicely silvered, Chris. Mine have some silvering left but it is hard to photograph. (Nice strike, too.)
@Topcat7 I do not get much into Empire coinage, so I really cannot help. Mine is pretty bet up with time... RI Numerian 283-284 CE AE Ant Stndg receiving Victory
