franklinproof2.JPG franklinproof.JPG I broke this out of a proof set tonight. I know the pictures aren't great, but I have to say it is the best I've ever seen. I don't have the capabilities to take high quality pics. Any thoughts.

I don't think that the coin grades PF-65. I would grade it PF-63

PF-64 The scratch next to the clapper(yes I had to look that up :woot:) I think is gonna effect the grade since it looks deep but I can't see anything wrong with the coin besides that, Beautiful coin!

Good eye. I'm at 64 as well.

I tried taking a few pictures of a 57 proof Franklin that I have and learned a lot. These things are tough to photograph!

The coin has a relatively weak strike, in circulation strike Franklins, this is more common, but the proofs are generally sharp.

There is the above mentioned ding as well as what might be wear, but could just be toning. I gave this coin the benefit of doubt in this matter.

The surfaces almost look pitted and unless this is toning that just photographed poorly, this speaks of an overused die.

The die fatigue is apparent in both obverse and reverse.

I stand by my grade. PF-63

I think the spotting is the start of Toning. It's hard to see it through the pics. Proofs ARE hard to photograph anyway.

Easy 66 and 67 wouldn't surprise me either. I have tons of PR-67 Franklins from back when you could buy them for about melt and this is as flashy as any of the non-cams that I have.
