    Hey Guys,
I just received a box of 2017 P nickels and would like to sell some through ebay. I'm on USPS's website and of course cant figure anything out. Whenever i put any information in, it says like 24 dollars to ship. Hopefully that isn't correct. For reference, the nickels are 7 oz total (per roll). I figure since you guys probably have experience you know the right way to go.
    Thanks,
    Jason

I would think it would fit inside a Medium Flat Rate Box (maybe not the square version, but the long thin one). As long as you can seal the outside edges (meaning it's fine if the box is bowed out) you're good to go.

Are you trying to sell the whole box at once or a few rolls at a time?

Just a roll or two (would combine shipping). If someone bought the whole box in one go I guess then I'd have to ship it all as one though? I saw online a whole box went for like 210 plus shipping which I thought was absurd. But if they're willing to pay for that I figure I open myself to a bigger market with a lower cost product you know?

Never handled a Nickels box, but the boxes cents come in will just fit inside a Priority Mail padded envelope. That mails for just over $7.

Ok sorry i have worded this very wrong. I am interested in selling individual rolls of nickels on ebay. 7 oz for each shipment.

A 7 oz. roll goes in a small bubble mailer of some sort, and ships First Class Mail.
The limit there is 13 oz, unless you have a commercial account, in which case I believe it goes up to 15 oz. Stamps.com, etc. would get you into that range.

But you can't do Click-n-Ship on USPS.com for First Class. You can buy that postage through eBay, though, I think.

First Class to mail that will run about $3.50.

So I guess another tangible question is how to sell them to maximize profits. Will people buy it at 3.50 shipping plus X amount for the roll? Should I maybe sell them in lots of 5, or is the whole box the way to go?

Selling anything heavy, with low dollar value, is difficult because shipping
is such a high fraction of the overall cost to your customer. And people don't like paying the S&H "tax".

If your rolls are 7 oz, mailing 2 rolls, 5 rolls, or 50 rolls costs the same if you go USPS. If you have a commercial account someplace, then maybe that isn't the case. That's outside my experience.

When I recently got an unwanted box of 2017-P Lincoln Cents, I sent a some rolls to a friend, pulled some out to keep sealed, and broke open the rest to search for errors. Then they'll go back to my dump bank. Those boxes sell for ~$55 on the 'Bay and I can mail the whole box for $7.15. But I've got $25 into buying them, eBay and PayPal both get a healthy fee (eBay charges their fee on the amount you collect for postage, too, BTW), so the "profit" simply isn't worth my time.

vs. spending that time searching through thousands of coins. ;)

Years ago when I was a YN, I started doing some small scale mail order ads (shows you how long ago). There are a lot of good tips on here, but you're probably going to learn some things as you go. Hopefully any mistakes along the way are minor and don't cost you much. Good luck
