NGC has not answered my emails, so I'll ask you guys. When you submit coins under different teirs, that have to be on differnt invoices. But on each invoise they want you to fill out the shipping totals. Do you have to pay seperate shipping for each invoice? And one more, the teirs where there is a five coin minimun, does that mean you have to submit 5 coins in that teir, or just 5 coins in total to submit a coin to it.
Same with PCGS and ICG, at least in my experience. They have told me that the coins do not travel together, they seperate into tiers upon arrival, and ship as tiers when done, so YES, you do need seperate shipping for each tier. I have never sent less than 5 per tier, I can't answer that part. Kinda sucks for the little guy doing just a few coins a year huh?
Yeah...you will need 5 of each type. I'm not sure but can't you send the spouse coins on the Modern Tier for $12.50 each? That might not work since the coin is gold but it is worth checking out. Speedy
NGC tier I just had some coins graded at NGC, I sent all the coins in one shipment, you cannot combine shipping costs in all the tiers, you pay shipping on each page, minimum 5 coins per invoice. Did this under the Economy grading tier.
Speedy, thank you. I almost made a big mistake, don't know what I was thinking. Could someone second that the Modern teir accepts gold coins, I checked, but I want to make sure.
I need two more coins after 1955 to slab. I think I'll do a double edge lettering Adams. But what else?
Yes they do..at least last year they did. I did the 2006 Gold 1 Ounce Buffalo proof under the modern teir and it doesn't give a max coin value limit. http://www.ngccoin.com/services/services.asp
Yeah...it looks like as long as the coins are dated 1955 or later you can send them to $12.50. BTW--If you are an ANA member you get a % off your total IF you fill out the forms ONLINE. If you write them out by hand you lose the % so do it online. It might take alittle longer but if I remember right it was something like 15% off my total. That is another tier.....on the one we are talking about they don't seem to have a $$$ limit. Well that really depends on what you have If I were you I would go through your collecting and take a look..... Speedy
I just thought of something also. Could we combine our coins to meet minimums? I have 2 old green holders to submit, need 3 more.... For us to gather them with a trustworthy member here, it is only a cpl bucks for postage, rather than the $17 min for PCGS. We could then submit and reship home after splitting them up. Im game......like I said, I have several crossovers and a cpl reholders to do, but don't meet the 5 in either tier.
Sorry....but that doesn't work. Cross overs can't be sent along with raw coins. I tried that but thankfuly I called them first Speedy
FYI I just did a reholder with NGC. It was a single coin. The only problem was that the return shipping was over $10 because it went on a separate invoice.
I have a question. If I sent a coin in for a cross over can I send it in its present slab or do I have to remove it first.
Present slab. If it does not meet the new partys criteria for the same grade or higher, it will be returned in the same slab as you sent it in. If it does " crossover " , they will remove and reholder it. Either way, you get charged full tier price. Ya gotta love it huh?
Check your mint sets and proof sets. Who knows...in one of your mintsets you might find a Full Step Nickel. Speedy
