Question About Buying Coin Storage Supplies

  1. Hey guys,

I had a quick question about buying coin storage supplies such as the 2x2 cardbourd flips. Finding them on places like ebay isn't the problem, they're plentiful and cheap. My problem is that to get what I want I'd have to buy a lot more than I need and probly would never use most of the rest. Even a pack of 25 iin a single denomination is more than i need.

I have many coins but only a few that i feel are worth special storage and they arent all the same denomination. So instead of buying say a pack of 25 or 50 2x2's of every denomination and only using a few out of each, is there anywhere thay sells these individually so that i can buy exactly what i need?

I figured if anyone would know it would be you guys. Thanks!

Maybe a local coin store? I would think shipping costs would keep anyone from wanting to sell you less than 25 at a time thru the mail.

No one that I know of sells such minimal quantities. You would probably be better off buying mylar flips with the insert by 100 which will fit all types and sizes of most coins.

You'll be hard pressed to buy any individually. I'd say either buy the pack and eventually you will probably use them all or you could probably get a couple free from a coin store if you buy a bunch of stuff

  6. Thanks for your advice everyone. A very generous member here has offered to send me a few out of their supply, and more grateful i could not be.

Easy problem to solve. Just buy more coins :D

Seriously, as pointed out earlier, you can probably find smaller quantities at your local coin shop. I've also seen people selling supplies at some mid sized shows. I even occasionally sold the staple type 2x2s at local coin club meetings.

You might not think you need many, but once you start using them, you would be surprised how fast they go.

Finally, if you decide to upgrade to the plastic flips, make sure they are Mylar or something similar. The cheaper, softer ones are usually made from PVC and the plasticizer can leach out and leave an acidic residue on your coins
