Building a set of Canada silver dollars

So I'm building a set of Canadian silver dollars (pre-loonie Voyageur design). I've already bought four coins off Ebay (they're all silver but two are the same date) -- I know everyone here hates Ebay, but I was extra-careful, looked at the pictures, and asked the sellers questions, and the coins arrived and look beautiful.

My question is: What are the key dates for this series (if there are any), how expensive do you think it'll be (I'm hoping it'll be a moderately-priced set that would also make a good silver investment, for the dates that contain silver -- also, I just love the design), and is it possible to buy a nice Dansco-type album for these coins here in the States? I've only seen American coin albums in the shops around here, and don't know any good online retailers.

Key dates will be the 1948, 1947ML, 1945 and 1947 pointed 7,1955 "Arnprior" in that order. The rest should be relatlively obtainable without going into triple digits (unless you are going for MS)

Just to add a little perspective the 5 coins in Topher's list have a value in AU of $2500 - $3000 the most valuable being the 1948.There is also a variety of the 1966 that is priced in the thousands.

The book, 'Silver and Nickel Dollars of Canada- 1911 to date' Copyright 1978, by Stephan E. Dushnick, would make a good first purchase. I got my copy off of eBay for about $7. Excellent reference! Also, I like the way that ICCS grades, they seem to be very conservative. Good luck!

Thanks for all the help. I'll definitely check out that book. So it looks like the 1945 and 1948 are the only hard ones to get. I don't really care about varieties (unless it is a major design change).

What about online stores to get a nice Dansco-type album?

Or go direct at one of the manufacturers:

www.collectorssupplyhouse.com for the Gardmaster albums, over $30 for free shipping in Canada, over $50 to the US.

www.unitradeassoc.com for the other albums. I drive past them every day, to/from work. Then again, I drive past most of Toronto on my way to/from work. :(

Perhaps no one cares but I got to thinking about the cost of a silver dollar collection and I came up with this.
There is a guy who sells coins on our Shopping Channel - I would never buy from them but I mention this just for price. He is offering a dollar set without any of the keys and with only two minor varieties for $1,000.So I would discount that by half and add about $2500 for the key dates and that would be your cost for a set of all the dates without any of the many varieties, none of which represent any design changes. Approx. $3000.00.

It's a fun series to work with. I have collected these dollars by variety and it looks like never ending series. Have fun with this series.

Dansco issued one album #7207 for Canadian dollars and it has slots for all dollar coins issued till 1981.
I like this album and am working on putting my second set in this album.
