Anything you think you see really isn't there. Ask yourself the simple question "How would this have happened at the mint". Answer - it didn't.

That S above the dome? That's the mint mark. Whatever you're seeing to the right of Monticello is only in your mind. War nickels didn't have a mint mark there, either.

Actually there is one with small s to the right of Monticello instead of large S and is worth 175000$ thats why i was interested because they made one mistake minting the 1942 nickel with the previous 1941 s mint mark

Interesting. On the one hand, if this was made intentionally by a rogue mint employee, then in my mind technically it is not a mint error since it was not produced during the normal minting process. However, it's not like he pocketed the coin, it went into circulation, so I think in that regard it is not an illegal coin. But it would have to have been made with the previous years planchet and die. Something doesn't seem right.
If others were made, someone somewhere would have found one. This could be the unicorn of this type/year/mm.
As for the OP's coin there is something unusual about it. I have never seen a war nickel that looked like that. It has a fake look to me.

I wouldn't believe too much that is posted on BoobTube.

First, the condition of the mintmark looks too good in contrast to the wear of the rest of the coin which leads me to suspect that the coin was altered.

Second, it may have sold for $1K or so 50+ years ago and then someone was asking $175K a few years later, but there were no takers reported. You can ask any amount you want, but that doesn't mean anything.

Finally, if there was documented proof that this coin really existed, why hasn't the Red Book published by Whitman ever mentioned it?

I think you should stop believing all that you see on BoobTube.

^^^ So you are saying someone added an S to a plain 1942 Philly?
Seems logical. These videos are doing a disservice to the hobby. They are trying to get people interested, but in the wrong way. (And of course they want millions of views if they are in it for the money.)

No all I am saying is that i got a Type 2 war nickel but its a little bit strange that have a small number 3 on the right side od Monticello

That wasn't a mistake. The alloy was changed during 1942, requiring 2 different mint marks to distinguish between the two.

Uh, no. There is not a 3 on the right side of Monticello. If there were, you wouldn't be the only one that could see it.
