I went to my dealer yesterday and got a $10 bag of Canadian cents to fill my folders. I was thinking it probably only had the Queen Elizabeth's in there. When I got home i opened the bag and was amazed at the different designs there was in there. It had Georgivs VI depicted on them, which was cool because I've never seen one with him. There was some of the centennial cents with the rock dove, which I've never seen before. I also found a 1932 and 1933 in there which had on the reverse Canada One Cent 1933. I had never seen any like this and none of the others looked like it. Can anyone explain to me what this coin was for and if it was only minted for a couple years? Needless to say I am far from finishing looking though the bag of cents, this may take a while! Thanks!

The rock dove was only minted for the Centennial in 1967 and are still fairly common in circulation. The George VI pennies aren't common, but can be found from time to time. Certain years are much harder than others, but in general, it isn't too difficult to acquire a complete set. The George V, on the other hand, are not found in circulation (unless you are REALLY lucky), and certain years are very pricey. The 1932 and 1933 are common ones, though. The coins of that design were minted from 1920-1936. Hope that helps. If not, keep asking, and I (or someone else) can keep answering. :)

What's nice about the Canada Small Cents is that it's not impossible to complete an entire set (depending on whether you are into varieties). A complete set of Elizabeth II cents out of circulation is possible with a little patience.

Thalia Elizabeth and I only need the 1922 and 1925, which, while the scarcest and most costly of the set, are each still less than, say, a 1931-S Lincoln Cent. Sure, it's a matter of supply and demand. But it will be nice to add those last two to the book when we do!

I found a grand total of 6 George V cents in about the $5 that was in the bag. The dates were 1932 1933 1920 and 1926 and 1929. What are the dates that are more scarce. I have about 20 more that i need to complete the set. I found all of these in the $10 bag that i acquired from the dealer.

The 4 rarest of that series are 1922,23,24 & 25 with the most valuable being the 1923. They have mintages from just over one million to 1.5 million.
