OK, so I've seen a lot of posts showing what a fake 1776 Continental Curency (yes, mine has the misspelled version) coin looks like and now I am confused about mine. It's not "mushy" looking, and definitely not a new cast. What kind of coin dealer do I need to visit to look at this? Posting a couple photos for your expert eyes. If you all say it's a fake, it will save me a trip to a dealer. My great, great, great (not sure how many) grandfather did participate in the revolutionary war, so there is some possibility it's real. Thank you all in advance for your time!
It just doesn't look right to me. I can't put a finger on what my issue is, but it looks wrong. What do the edges look like?
Hard to take a good photo of the edges - but here you are. No wording that I can see and it's not even. Pretty sure the metal is not pewter, but it could have copper in there. Thanks so much.
Marked copy and there is also an R for replica to the left of the date. At least they were making sure it was properly marked!
