Found a wheat cent when I was 6. Sadly my mom found it some time later and spent it before I told her to not spend old coins.

Started as an adult... I received a few inexpensive, but interesting coins from my Grandfather when he passed and just caught the bug from there.

Started at age 7 with my Dad 50+ years ago. Always circulated coins, Dad was a Depression age kid and so rarely bought coins (except for mint sets) and that frugal gene passed on to me. I would update my coin folders off and on over the years with just accumulated pocket change. When Dad died last year, I offered to inventory his voluminous collection so Mom could sell it off. But, I caught the bug again and am buying his collection piece by piece from Mom. 2 co-workers convinced me to "go big" so I now CRH and occasionally buy hard to find coins so I can complete my folders, now albums. CT has been instrumental in my renewed passion for coin collecting.

I found a 1919-P Wheat penny in my piggy bank when I was 8. At first I didn't take (the hobby) it seriously I looked up it's value but it was low but I decide to keep it (I still have coin). I encountered a silver dime and a silver quarter once. But at the time I didn't know anything about silver (now I do) so I spent the silver. I hadn't got any silver dimes or silver quarters ever since. I jumped back in the hobby when I was 11 I looked for state quarters but slowly shifted away to cents, nickels, half dollars, and dollars. I found a 1912-s and a 1922-(Weak)D penny from coin roll hunting and found a small collection dump of half dollars which contained one 90%er and 10 40%er. So I been interested in the hobby ever since.
