1996p Quarter reverse die crack question...

    There are two die cracks on the reverse of this quarter. Can the top die crack from the rim to the EAGLES head be considered a spiked head die crack? 1996revfull.jpg 1996revup.jpg 1996revlow.jpg

    One of the very first listing of “SPIKED HEADS” was in the 1969 edition of “THE CLASSIFICATION AND VALUE OF ERRORS ON THE LINCOLN CENT” by Jean Cohen. In this book she listed over 800 hand illustrations on Lincoln Cents.

    Cuds on Coins definition of Spike Heads. “All “SPIKE HEADS” will have a die crack from the rim into any portion of the bust’s head. It shall be limited to die cracks found on the obverse of the coin.”

    Thank you 20ld. I know I have read that definition a few times, (love the site by the way) and am embarrassed to confess I forgot they are limited to the obverse.
