I don't think the Heritage photo made the toning, especially on the reverse, look that attractive either. If anything, I would expect someone to gamble more on the ebay photo hoping for a score. If anything, the remnant of the sticker/label on the ebay photo could have hurt the price (I know that sounds silly, but some people will not bid due to issues like that...and it could have been serious if the label left a mark, requiring paying a reholdering fee).

Mainly though, I think @baseball21 had the reason: an ever weaker classic commemorative market (and maybe a bad ending time for the auction).

    You did well; congrats!

You win @ron_c. I sold it for $49 buy it now. Took almost a week to sell. I was about the send it to PCGS but someone nabbed it with only hours remaining on eBay.

A problem free 1901 Morgan Dollar in AU 55 is listed for around $450, a AU58 is listed for around $1250. Naturally, they usually don't sell for these amounts.

This is not a problem free coin. What did this coin sell for?

I would say 185 because that is the most I would pay. It is however very nice looking at a glance but I cant get past the scratches on the face.

    "toning premium" thread ron :D

Still a good exercise tho, I'll guess 225 but I have no experience with details coins not really sure what to expect them to go for

Oh man, I forgot that part. :(

I forgot about this being a toned thread and I post a white coin. If anyone wants to end this and I will post a toned coin.

It looks nice for a details coin

And while this is a toning premium thread, it's ok if we occasionally go in a different direction.

This is what the coin looked like when I obtained it. I was hoping that by removing the toning or color, that it would grade of at least MS 60, but when the color was removed and sent back to PCGS as a raw coin, they said the grade was Cleaning AU Details. It then was sent as a raw coin to NGC and was hoping NGC would straight grade it, but alas it did not.
