The roundness of the 0 in 1960 is much smaller in circumference in the small date when I'm looking at the inner lines. also seems bolder in the small date.
The 0 is a marker, but I have seen other photos where it appears the curls on the 6 and 9 in the SD are much tighter and almost closed than these photos show. Now you are making me use Google. For the large date: The top of the 9 is always higher than the top of the 1. The top of the 6 is at the same or very close to the right most edge of the 6. For the small date: The top of the 9 is equal or lower than the top of the 1. The top of the 6 stops halfway to edge and is very close to the center of the 6.
On the 1970, the 9 is more closed to parallel, and the point on the bottom of the 9 is sharp, and on the LD it is blunt and the 9 is not curled around as much. Also, LIBERTY will often be weakly struck on the SD and better struck on the LD.
With the 1960, I believe the entire actual date will appear smaller on the SD compared to the LD. Which is not the case on the 1970-S or 1982.
