Last week i started a thread and told you that i had stupidly CLEANED all of my pennies in my Lincoln Cent 1975 - 2013 folder and immediately regretted it afterwords. Well, last night I decided i would replace them all, so I sat down with about 10 roles of pennies and started sorting. Amazingly, i actually had just about the entire folder replaced in under an hour, save for just 2. ( It always starts getting painstaking when you get down to those last few coins you need to complete the set ) But a couple more hours later and I had those to, so now II'm back to having an uncleaned set, and i actually found some really nice specimens in the process. Much nicer examples than I had with the first set. I even found some wheaties in the process, a few that still had some shine on them if you can believe that!
If only all in the world truly was "right" again.... Enjoy your set, but if unhappy with "uncleaned" coins, simply upgrade/replace them as the opportunity presents itself. That's how it's been done for many, many years, and as the old saying goes: "if it's not broke, don't fix it". And a somewhat belated welcome to the forum....
Unfortunately, no.... but it certainly would be nice to give it a try, at least once, before it all comes to an end.
A newbie question about cleaning. I've always been of the impression that coins should not be cleaned. I must have heard this many years ago. Transferred to a newer album when one of my pups decided my original was something to chew on, these two pages show 1951 to 1974 cents all culled from circulation over the past 60+ years... never cleaned.
Some of the coins in your album aren't straight!!! That would drive me nuts. Dont take it the wrong way, I'm not judging. Its not like it really matters, but i have to have mine perfectly straigh up and down and aligned with the others. It's such a pet peeve of mine. I'm very OCD that way.
