  1. Hello, everyone may I please get some feedback on this penny color or whatever that is on the penny. It's a 1995 D.

Sorry but it's just environmental damage. Copper is a reactive metal and there is a lot of stuff out there that will help with that reaction

  4. Okay, thanks for the help!

Chewmassa Now where could my pipe be?

Just looks red-brown to me. Most of the luster has worn off and in some patches it hasn't.

Oh I'm seeing the chemical reaction now too.

That one had a nice strike. Good detail.
Personally I don't care for the zinc cents. They literally disintegrate in a very short time.

  7. I am not sure by what you mean about chemical reaction, but just know that penny was just taken out of an roll I bought today. So if that's an chemical reaction from something or someone trying to make it look other than it should it's not I. I am not saying anything referring to you saying I did anything, I'm simply explaining and clarifying I didn't do anything to the penny. As I find a penny I post the penny immediately to get an opinion. I still have 16 rolls left to open I will post more in a few. Thanks though for the opinion!

I wasn't trying to imply you or anyone else did anything purposely. As oldhoopster said there are many things that can react with copper. This penny could have been in contact with any number of substances prior to being picked up and spent by someone and eventually ending up in a bank roll that you bought. Those patches of reddish color (not the mint luster) seem indicative of some sort of chemical reaction to an environmental substance (e.g. spilled soda or bleach or any number of things) to me.

One thing you'll have to acquire around here is a slightly thicker skin. No one accused you of doing anything.

  10. As I said before in my response, before you wrote me your response about having thick skin, I clearly said "I am not saying anything referring to you saying I did anything, I simply clarifying I didn't do anything the penny", as far as having a thick skin there is nothing anyone can say to offend me, so I don't need thick skin. So I respectfully chalk this up to a misunderstanding, I am pretty sure you know what you're talking about concerning coins. I am here to get advice and learn more about coin collecting, I have only been coin collecting for about a little over a month and I don't know a lot about collecting. So I'm just going to make this a misunderstanding and thank you for your advice previously!

Have you checked out varietyvista.com and the other numismatic resources? I'm fairly new to finer details of collecting myself and these sorts of sites have helped tremendously.

  12. Hey thanks will check the sites out ASAP!
