Hello Folk's, Is it me or has anyone else noticed the prices for Paper in MS condition plus going higher and higher? Take the US Fractional Currency for example and I will highlight the 4th and 5th issues specifically. Fourth Issue; Fr 1257 in Chcu63 and above is reaching the 205.00 and up area. Fr 1258, 1259 and 1261 are doing the same. The 15 cent notes are up there as well with Fr 1267, 1268,1269 and 1271 moving higher! The 25 cent notes, Fr 1301, 1302, 1303 and 1307 are well over 300.00 and in some cases like Gem ranging in the 500-600 area. The 50 cent note in ChCu Fr 1374 is 420.00 plus with examples with excellent margins going much higher! The 50 cent Stanton, Fr 1376 are in the 460-500 range for near Gem and Gem examples! This holds true for the 5th Issue as well. What are your thoughts? Have you noticed the price increases for notes that you collect? Is it just US Notes or is this happening across the board? Here are a few pics of the above mentioned notes... RickieB
Wow, simply beautiful! Are they yours Rickie? I haven't noticed it, but then again I'm not that big of a currency collector. But hey, could turn out really good for you! Phoenix
Sure thing Phoenix...just 3 more to go to have the 4th and 5th issues in the safe! Thanks for taking a look.. RickieB
Conder101 had a good point as you noted RickieB. I own but a few fractionals but a lot of CU small size. I haven't seen a ton of movement there but currency is a bit more fickle wouldn't you say? When I first started in currency it was HOT in the East, South and West. Slow in tne Midwest and that was fine. I was buying funnybacks and 35 straight silver certificates in CU for peanuts and selling them for a nice profit on ebay in a week. Then it caught up here. Then web notes and 295 errors got hot. I yanked thousands out of circulation - sold some and kept too many when the cycle ended. Currency "cycles" seem much more pronounced to me. I'm waiting for the next wave as it were then I'll be selling again. clembo
