I've not been feeling well recently and actually spent a night in the hospital this week. I'm fine now but as a result my mind has been far from coins.

I was out today with my wife heading to a local event and passed right by where our local quarterly coin show is held. Imagine my frustration when I saw the sign "Coin Show". I had completely forgotten! I had some spare cash in the safe exactly to ensure that I had it available for this event and I was seriously thinking of going. Needless to say that is exactly where it was. I had no spare money with me to stop in a look around!

It doesn't cost to look. If you see something interesting that you want you can reserve it with the dealer and pick it up at his shop or send a check and have it shipped to you.

Thanks. Perhaps I should have done and probably would have done if by myself. But it was close to 90 degrees and I did not want to leave my wife in the car alone. Had I remembered the event I would have been alone.

I hate being at a show without cash. I would find something I just had to have.

Would you really want your wife to see what you're spending on coins?!?!

My wife would have no interest in going inside. And she wouldn't care how much I spent or what I bought as we both trust one another to use funds wisely.

She tends to look the other way, leave it up to me, and grimace most certainly. I tell her not to worry...........It's only money after all, right? devil.gif She's a danged good sport. :)

funny you mention your wife in the car... When I had a girlfriend (seperated now for about a year) I told her I wanted to do coin shows alone because I would worry she would be bored to death...and then I would only focus on her. when I go to a coin show it is a very personal experience.... me and coins for 7-8 hours lol no distractions. Coins are great escape for me. This girl that I am kind of seeing now...she's just a friend wants to go to a coin show and I said nope. lol

Sometimes I see posts like these and realize how old some members of cointalk actually are. It makes me want to consider ever being a jerk to anyone. Some of you are such old fogies!

    Best wishes in your recovery!

But at least we are old enough to know that it is not a good idea to go around insulting people all the time.

There's two ways to look at this...some are just grouchy so read them accordantly...but some are just having fun with you....just roll with the punches

from someone that does list his age your age shows us how young you are. It's us old people that carry the coin hobby into the future. It's us old people that can teach you more about coins in a shorter amount of time. why would you want to be a jerk ? It's called showing respect to your elders for a reason. think be fore you post next time.

Or at least not the dog.

Hey why not, who knows she might get the collecting bug too, and the hobby can always use more women collectors.

yes we need more women in this hobby, but no I still go alone and focus on coins with no distractions. This is 1 thing I do for myself. I can't "escape" if all I am doing is worrying if she is bored or wants to go somewhere else.
