If I remember correctly, the U.S. Mint began (again) producing proof 90% silver dimes, quarters and half dollars in 1992. Has anyone ever found one of these in circulation? I know finding one in circulation must be very rare, but just curious.
I found a 2000S silver half in a bag once. That is the only one I've come across though. And that is searching tens of thousands, if not closer or over $100,000 worth.
They have turned up in circulation sometimes. I've found (slightly-impaired) proofs in circulation twice. Not silver ones, but I've heard of people finding them.
I've found four 1992-S Silver Kennedy Proofs while roll hunting. Wasn't expecting it so it was a great surprise each time.
A couple of months ago I found a really shiny cent. I look closely and it was a proof but I can't remember the date other than 1990 's. I was surprised.
found a silver proof Michigan quarter a couple years ago in the cash register at work. Let a coworker have it hoping to get them more interested in collecting.
I've found a silver proof Missouri quarter, and more recently a silver proof Smoky Mts. quarter in circulation. Several years ago I also came across a cameo proof 1963 quarter out of a box.
I've found 3 proof nickels in the wild, never any silver proofs though. With silver being as scarce as it is in circulation now I'd gladly take even a dingy IFC '64 dime. Though not at all common, I'm sure there are silver proofs floating around out there. They probably get plucked out of circulation quickly though as they'd most likely stick out to collectors and non collectors alike.
Found a silver Maine quarter. Looked like a regular quarter because of the scratches and wear. I was about to spend it until my brother asked me why the edges were all silver colored.
Last year I found a 2016-S Harpers Ferry Proof National Park Quarter in pocket change. It was a pleasant find.
I find a Proof Sac or President Golden Dollar fairly regularly coin roll hunting. A Kennedy reverse Proof Golden Dollar was found a couple of months back. A couple of Proof state quarters have been pulled in the last couple of years in change. The best find for me was a Proof 2009 Lincoln Formative Years cent in change.
I'm not trying to be a wise guy or anything but when did the US Mint produce a Kennedy Reverse Proof Golden Dollar?
I have collected over 60 proof coins from boxes in circulation. I thought circulating a proof coin voided all premium value. Is that true?
