    I've been thinking the same thing - seems like we've had a lot of newcomers to the forum lately. Nothing wrong with it - the more the merrier! - but I am having some trouble keeping up with who's who...

    Btw - a public 'thank you' to @Deacon Ray for the awesome give away!

    Thank you, @Theodosius and @FitzNigel! I’ve noticed it also and it’s great! The more of us the better, healthier, and stronger the ancient coin collecting community will become. Our awesome hobby is being threatened by well meaning but misguided critics. I enjoy supporting the new members. I’m inspired by the generosity that I’ve seen and not seen. I’ve adopted several new members and am having a great time supporting them in their early ancient coin collecting efforts. There are many generous members of this forum providing new members with start-up collection coins, knowledge, and experience. I’m not going to name you because there are so many I don’t want to leave any out.

    I don't know anything about Roman Coins an never thought of collecting them but it does sound interesting.

    Oh! My goodness!

    @Deacon Ray! This is incredible!

    As I drooled over the gorgeous coins spilling out your sac-o-ancients the other day on another thread, I thought to myself: "What fun I would have attributing Deacon Ray's sac-o-ancients." And here you are giving away one such sac. They look like they don't need a thing done with them except to be attributed and looked at with great appreciation.

    Please count me in and thanks for the chance.

    Welcome to the Ancients Forum, Howard!

    Collecting ancient Roman coins is the most awesome experience you can imagine. You're holding two thousand years of history in your hand! You can own a coin that may have been touched by Cicero, Ptolemy, Saint Peter, Spartacus, and so on.

    If your interested in getting started I'll be glad to send you a list of excellent, honest, and reputable dealers in authentic ancient coins.

    I'm a relatively new collector and have Morgan dollars, a widows mite, peace dollars, Lincoln cents, etc in my collection. My next two coins will be one of the Peace Dollars missing from my set, and when I feel competent enough to pull the trigger, a Trajan denarius.

    My wife always tells me I'm anti- social so maybe that carries over to not following the coin collecting social rules. :)

    Thanks for the chance.
    I got my first ancient(s) last year in a uncleaned lot. I prefer searching and discoverung my own pieces. I took a break and did chinese miderns until july 2017 when i decided to try ancients more actively and bought a few cleaned and a huge lot of uncleaned. I purchased 2 books to try to attribute pieces(which most are constantine) but its not so easy.

    I soaked the group below for about a month and just started cleaning them. The single picture is from a piece i cleaned on wed.
