he seems to have alot of "seems like old cleaning but has regained natural look" .. more like i buffed this baby out in my garage and slaped some copper color on
BINGO! I think your correct. The coins have pretty good detail not all worn down. some people really do buy the coin,if they like the way it looks I guess
Well if he just bought a couple old collections as was mentioned it's quite possible an accurate description. The cleaning is bad idea didn't used to be as prevalent as it is now.
Its sad too he has alot of nice lincolns there but they all give me an uneasy feeling. They all have the same light brown tone to them and looks a bit dull.
Yes - but then the auction pops up. Not having any problems. Got to admit the pictures do look good. The only thing I wonder is "what is his definition of high grade" on the auctions. Don't get me wrong - I see nothing wrong with it, but I wonder how many others just take it to mean uncirculated. I like the large cent auctions that high grade - you open it up and see a corroded piece of copper.
Wow.....those are some crazy prices for some circ Lincolns that have been cleaned up. That 31-S is worth half of that....maybe. The scary thing is to see people pay for coins like these, when there are many coppers (Large Cents, Indian Cents, Lincoln Cents) that are very expertly recolored are go undected, even finding their way into holders. By the way, the market for early Lincolns seems red hot, especially for semi-key mintmark pieces.
Here is the latest rendition http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330171226371&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT&ih=014 - and it is not even over yet!
Amazing. If you look at high bidder ( at this post ) yardguy4ever , he should know his coins, he sure has some power cents for sale. I have bought 4 from him and was really pleased. His pictures keep his prices down, with Nancy / Eric, the pictures do the opposite. $80 and climbing for a cleaned AU, wow. Well, more power to Eric, I am now priced out of buying from them anymore, but I'll watch with amazement !!! Funny, this one does not say cleaned: http://cgi.ebay.com/1931s-LINCOLN-C...ryZ11944QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Yes it is redhot. I think tommorow, I'm going to yank a bunch of my BIN's and just put them up for a while. At this pace, they will become to hard to replace at a reasonable / profitable price. I did real well with 30 auctions tonight, got bid or more for 90% of my listings. Those high grade semikeys I think I'll just sit on for now.
Cleaning on Cents seems to be prevalent but try looking at the 2 Cent listings on eBay I keep an eye on them to keep track of general price trends and it looks like about 90% of the coins that are actually above F12 as apposed to the ones that that are stated as being Fine have been cleaned. Even the ANACS slabs that state cleaned go for way over CDN. Some sellers seem to equate a nice copper colour with BU and not cleaned.
My guess is they have it programmed that way. I suspect it's probably something like a click thru and they, meaning cointalk, get paid a small amount every time we click on one of the ebay links posted here. Helps to keep the forum open.
Yes it is prgrammed that way. It was discussed a few days ago in the Support and Feedback section. But no it doesn't work quite the way you think. Coin Talk does not receive 1 cent until a purchase is made as the result of a click-thru.
Gotta give Cointalk this - it's certainly not a get rich quick scheme. After all, most of the ebay auctions we post are ones TO AVOID.
