    Here is some bronze

    1961NewZlnd.jpg

On the reverse of this coin is a Maori Hei-Tiki, which is a stone figurine worn by some Maori around their necks. Like a charm necklace.

In my research I found the Hei-Tiki was probably 1st made for Hina-te-iwaiwa, the Maori Moon Goddess. The Hei-Tiki itself is sacred to the Maori and is thought to represent the Human Embryo....(sounds like this belongs in your collection @Stork );)

After all that, the next category is Native Symbols of any kind.

A double 'hoo' bird, sometimes called the Japanese phoenix. Not exactly the same mythology as the Western one, but I like them.

Let's keep going with mythological beasties.

(edited to add: though the toning on this one kinda looks like the birds are rising from ashes. In Japan they herald the birth of an Emperor/new era and are symbols of good luck...among other things).
