Crap week for me. Glad to see others are having better luck.
    6 boxes of halves - Skunk-a-roo. Almost all 95D's and 94P's. Ugh.
2 boxes of nickels - 1 dateless "D" Buff that will be getting a bath, 5 09D's, and 5 Canadians. That's it. Hope next week is better.

That war nickel never got perfectly clean. Some black stuff near the 43 of the date. But it's in a flip as one I didn't have.

Since I went to town anyway for the Library I took 9 penny rolls and 7 nickel rolls to trade in. My bank.
In return I got 5 MWR (Loomis) and 4 CWR pennies.
And 7 CWR nickels. Just started a penny roll.

5 rolls of nickels = 40-s was the only keeper. 1 roll of dimes = nothing

I found some really nice state quarters in a quarter hunt this week. They seemed to be (almost) uncirculated. Some of them didn't have scratches on them and seemingly full luster from even 1999 :O

A 40s is still a great find :) Nickels do tend to be the easiest to find some oldies in, but still great :) I don't normally find much in nickels and dimes. I did find a couple Mercury's once, though. Pennies seem to be the best for me. And quarters, mostly just because I'm working on my National Park Quarters collection :)

    $10 in halves... nothing.

I found another one of the just like fresh from the mint 70D.
Not better but just as good as I have. It gets kept.
Other than that nothing new in nickels.
Pennies what I'm probably going to do is get all the 70s looking the same via acetone. Because it seems silly to have widely different finishes on them. Of course the beautiful natural ones will be kept!

And just when I was telling myself I'm going back to nickels and straps for a while...
    3-90%
    5-40%
All second half of second (last) box. Ordering 2 more tomorrow.

Ooh! A Franklin. I've never found a Franklin roll hunting. I have a few that I bought, but maybe someday I'll find one :)

Must be nice to do boxes of halves. Beyond my financial means.
I still drag up the occasional gem from nickels.
And I have sort of a plan in pennies.
    Back at pretty soon.

Even though boxes of halves are pretty expensive, I always think of it as I get almost what I spent back. I don't keep too many, so when I take it back, I tend to get back close to what I paid.

That's a good point, Ian C. It simply ties up the money for a bit. It took me a while to find a reliable source for halves. Now after getting two new free checking accounts I have two sources. I don't do the volume you guys do, but its nice to be able to get them when i want them without much hassle.

I hope you do as well. Just grind through boxes and one will come eventually. It took me 3 boxes just to find silver, this one was just a good lucky box.

Indeed. I look at is as I paid $4 for $31 melt value. Just took some time. Looking for basic varieties and silver it takes me about 45 min to go through a box, so if I don't look at labor as overhead I did pretty good.

I've done several rolls today (yawn).
Just did a penny roll that gave:
    A REALLY ugly 1919 penny.
    A fair 1935
a 1943 with a few minor spots on it
    1951D, 1956D, 1957D and 1958D a few of which were upgrades.

The biggest penny bonanza I ever saw!
Got another roll that looks the same.
But have a nickel roll to do first.

I couldn't help myself and went back to the CU yesterday since I was passing by before they closed. Cleaned them out of MWR dimes and nickels, but the bonanza was over. It wasn't a total skunk, though since the $105 in dimes gave up a 58 and 64 Roosie that brought the week's total to 73 silver dimes. With some family commitments this coming weekend that might be all the searching I get to do so at least I can hit pause on a high note.

How UGLY is the REALLY UGLY 1919? Does it look like a witch? :wacky:

That's an impressive haul. How much did you sort through to get them?

Some lucky boxes, some not so lucky boxes. That happens a lot with pennies. Some boxes can have almost no wheats, then others can have quite a few :)
