Old US coin unknown

    It's an 1864-1909 Indian cent, or would be, if it was the right coppery color. But what's in those pictures looks like a pot metal casting of an Indian cent - it's too silvery colored. I can't tell if that's the photos or not.

    It appears to be a charm cast out of a pewter-like metal (often called "pot metal"), which was made to resemble an Indian head cent. During the 1950s there were a lot of these "faux coins" on charm bracelets. Sometimes they gold-plated actual coins, and sometimes they were just castings, like this appears to be.

    Which seems strange, because an Indian Head cent would've been a very cheap and available coin at the time. Why go through the trouble to make a fake one? But they did, sometimes.
