Congrats on the NEWP. FECs are such a neat coin.

Flying eagles are a great small set to collect. Now that you have the second year you'll want the other 2 years and their variations. Good luck.

I concur - nice little coin for the price.

Glad that you got one Darryl and you can actually tell it's an eagle so not a bad price - cleaned or not.

I'll never understand why the series was so short. Best design EVER on a U.S. cent in my opinion.

Thanks Bruce, I guess the hunt goes on!

Thanks - I agree, many examples I've seen at lower prices have the eagle almost completely worn away.

Thanks Frank, Last night I bought a 58 LL on eBay for a bit more. It's in a little better condition. I'll post pictures when I get it. It's all Bruce's fault - wonder if that will work with my wife?

Now all I have to do is find a 56 - LOL - That one would really get me in some trouble. :D

    Darryl:
First you need the 1858 SL.

However, be sure to check for the overdate on the LL.
I have cherrypicked 3 of them so far.
The best is an XF-45, cleaned, and then a VF20, cleaned.
Best: a Fine-15, not in an ANACS holder, labeled, and I paid $20 for it (plus the cost of the slabs).

Here is the eBay photo of the 58. I'll post better photo's when it arrives. Based on what I can see I don't think it's a 8 over 7.

Going to a local show in a couple weeks, maybe I'll find a SL or cherrypick a 8 over 7 (if I can get so lucky).

    Thanks

    Darryl,
Could you please tell me where the coin show is going to be located? I would like to go, but I have no way of finding out where and when the shows are. Thank you.

    Hi Swick:

Here is a link for the shows in our area. The one I'm talking about is on the 14th.
