This is my only 1922...I have been using resources like my Cherrypicker's Guide (5th Ed.) and http://lincolncentresource.com/1922Ddievarieties.html So far I believe the second '2' is sharper and the 'L' of LIBERTY looks like it could be against the rim, but I am struggling with this one due to the rough grade and the weak reverse contradicting my sharp second '2' observation. Also struggling with deciding if there is slight CCW rotation. Very interesting that the Cherrypicker's Guide does not mention Die Pair #4. This was not a purchase. It was pulled from circulation many, many years ago. I can take additional photos to focus on a specific area if needed. Thoughts?
It's so worn/circulated they might not be able to tell if there was ever a D or weak D or no D there. And as Treashunt said, it's so coincidental that there is always a gouge, scratch, or hit where the MM should be. Perhaps if they use an electron microscope, they can determine more about this coin. AG-03 obverse, AG-01 reverse. Net grade AG-02 IMO. I graduated from the Ed Wood School of Grading.
I don't think it will really matter much in that condition. Most collectors who can afford to purchase and desire a "No D" 1922 cent will want one that has no ambiguity about it. Even if it graded in it will a kind of white elephant.
