You guys are apparently finished with 1873 so it is now 1872:

This coin has some honest wear from the 19th Century. However, the protected areas still include some flashy luster. :)

    Great additions!!

I am now out of the running...The oldest coin I own is an 1874 and I missed it.

Since when did 12 posts and less than 18 hours qualify as "apparently finished". Seems like we probably missed some good 1873 coins. Anyway, it is done, so 1872 it is. Unfortunately I don't have any imaged.

Post it anyway ;), call it a ripple in the time-space continuum which can then return us to our normal pattern.

As for 1872, that was a tough one for me until I thought to look in my generally ignored 7070. When I started the album I was cracking decent coins to put in it or using coins that had sentimental value, so it's a mish-mash of quality. The album is now fairly neglected since I discovered non-US coins.

This is one of the better coins in it IMO and shockingly an 1872 so I popped it out, photo'd it and popped it back in last week.

I suspect as we get farther back the posts will get lighter. I will certainly be posting significantly less after 1870 as my coins are much more random then.

Now getting into the eras in which I have mainly US coins. But since it's still part of the world, I may have to continue to show them. Meanwhile, I do have an 1872 coin from Mexico.

I saw that you had posted an 1873 along with about a dozen other folk. I assumed it was OK to proceed to 1872. Sorry if I've upset your thread or caused you any grief.

    Nice coins everyone.

I think a little out of order posting is in order.

    See what I did?

We want to see all the good stuff people have.

I will be glad when this gets to the 1700s, for I have a lot of them, probably several for nearly every year. Let me see if I have any 1872....ah, there are a few...

I missed 1873, but here is 1872! The condition is unfortunate, though at least the date is still readable :p

1872 USA dime with well-executed love token engraving on the reverse.

It likely was a christening gift due to the stork theme.

    @Stork should collect these! ;)

If you have a TON of coins from 1872 alone and you only collect gold then why are just heading off to work? ;)
