Should we have a library, just as we have a directory?

We have a directory on CT as a reference for finding dealers. It occurs to me that something similar for finding reference books on topics would be a good idea. Not sure how it would work. Perhaps a thread per topic. But it should be able to be references from the top bar, as is Directory.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

Maybe something along the lines of this-
Click library, then there are sub-catagories like Cents, Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, Halves, Ancients, etc etc and within those are the different books. Members could be able to put if they own them and maybe a 1-5 stars on usefulness?
    I think it's a good idea.

I was thinking more on the lines of topics or countries rather than specific coins. Most of yours would fit under USA Coins. For example, popular countries could have their own sub-categories but European could be catchall for the rest of Europe. Ancient would obviously be a separate category, and probably Medieval. Maybe one for Grading. Beyond that I don't know - it needs discussing.

Excellent idea, maybe a thread for each book, and comments about it. Would be great for new members especially.

Yes, I was thinking about a thread for each book, assigned to an appropriate category.

I think it's a fine idea, since CT is such an important numismatic hub and learning resource already.

FORVM does this with its "Resources" section on Ancient coins, as many of you know. (Note that our own @dougsmit's site is the top one listed.) They also have a library.

Would be nice to see a big list of similar resources (about more than just Ancient coins) right here.

Maybe a combination of web pages, downloadable e-books (when they're in the public domain), and a place where people could post reviews and summaries of actual printed numismatic books. (Of course there's Amazon for that, but I agree that it would be nice to see them listed here - and maybe Amazon could give CoinTalk some kickbacks - isn't that how these things work on some sites?)
