You should read her initial post and the comments also. She is a pun master. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ancients-a-deity-worthy-of-respect.251682/ A Deity Worthy of Respect Discussion in 'Ancient Coins' started by TIF, Sep 7, 2014.
@TIF's wonderful Elagabalus denarius is unforgettable. And so is her recreation of the event depicted on the reverse. If ever there is a coin that would entice me to the 3rd Century, it's this one.
@Severus Alexander That Miliarense nearly bankrupted me, so I'm taking that sucker to the grave when I die!
Did i previously post to this thread? Dont think so. I just stumbled across it. It deserves a reboot, so "bump" it goes, back up into the sunlight. @AncientJoe's purple-toned Vespasian aureus from the Boscoreale Hoard found in the ruins of Pompeii is the one that "does it for me" the most. (Talk about "heat-induced toning"! Wow.) I would rather own that coin than three USA 1804 dollars (unless, of course, I could have the 1804 dollars, sell them, set myself and my family up to live out the rest of our lives in modest comfort, pay AJ an obscene sum of money for the Boscoreale aureus, and do some crazy-generous giveaways on the forums, too...) Edit: OK, I just read the whole thread. I hadn't seen it before. Not only was it a great "feel good" read, but it has also inspired me to put certain types on my radar screen. I was not surprised to discover Joe's Boscoreale aureus already had some admirers.
