Hahaha, lighten up! by the way, I hate to tell you, but you're one of the people that I'm referring to when I'm talking about the way you talk down txhe kids in here. Subtle don't work sometimes.

Screw it. Guilt in taking a profit on this 1962 proof set after all this emotional iinvesment convinces me to sell it somewhere at what I paid for it originally and donate the proceeds to the American leukemia Foundation, be my good deed for the week. Thanks to all who led me to this conclusion.
    Hugs and fishes... problem solved!

I wonder how much I could get in trade if I were to ditch all these coins and start collecting Beanie Babies? Anyone know?

All the more reason to frequent this forum. There are several dealers here that would be happy to help you find what you're looking for, but better yet, they'll stand behind the sale as far as authenticity

Yes, yet... I find most people are basically extremely honest, even to a fault. The bad ones get the attention because they're so horrific as well as out of the norm, or at least used to be. I saw your replies to the eBay scammer return request incident and they were quite thoughtful. eBay gives the neighborhood a bad reputation, and unfortunately, eBay is a BIG neighborhood. Online relationships are tricky as a result, and your advice is good. Someone you know to have a great interest in what's under the hood of the surface instills a warm fuzzy. I find that most of the scammers or shady folks who just post misleading photos and or descriptions may have 100% or 99.xxxx % positive feedback but not thousands of sales The Internet just speeds things up, both the good AND the bad, and we tend too often to focus on the multiplied bad as it causes so much genuine damage. Just the temper of the times. 10 years from now we won't recognize the prehistoric methodologies we use today, prediction only of course.

Thanks for the compliment. I try to be thoughtful as well as polite in my responses as I feel that my words have a permanence when I publish them on the internet.

Most feel that the distance and anonymity protect them from retribution and they may be right, but I prefer to try to be a positive in the world, even when it's not a matter of personal safety.

That said, I apologize for the crack I began with about being puzzled at your inquiry. I am usually better than that.

I believe you meant "big meanie"??? It's ok, you are forgiven due to your juvenile status. :)

Thanks, likewise I got snippy, which I apologize for as wekl. Very often though, text based conversations, and even worse, those now peppered with emoticons, emojis and modern mojo do not even begin to serve the needs and purpose of good old fashioned formal language based on the setting. Liken it to "indoors voices" for kids and other unspoken rules for spoken language based on the audience and participants, i.e. if you sit a nun down in the room it changes the whole mood and vernacular patterns, hell, even for the considerate atheist. Worse, online, we don't know who else might be following the thread, nor what hat they might step into the ring wearing. Add everyone's current mood and time zone and whether they shoot from the lip or not, and good luck. Yet, we are enamoured of the global bullhorn, even if all we offer is in fact bull. And there is no hiding from it, no immunity, it goes all the way to the Presidency, shudder. I'd bet that you likely know this, but some people are not aware that the Library of Congress is saving everyone's tweets and has been for years with the intentions of indexing them someday. From what I understand they have run into a few snags and are behind somewhat. Imagine that. Should intelligent beings someday visit us, I hope they don't read all of mine.

I hope they don't either. Lol.
Now that's how to joke around a bit, by simple agreement.

In 1962, those were $2.10 per set from the US Mint. I bought 5 sets.
    Wow what a retirement investment.

A couple things. First this -

No, it's not. The forum rules specifically allow all members to have a link like that in their sig line.

Secondly, while I get the bit about the "possibility" of how a post having anything to do with questions about selling could be considered to be "subtle advertising" shall we say - which I believe is what was suggested in this thread. That does not mean that it IS advertising.

Sure, it's one of those things where you never know, it could be advertising, but it could also just be an honest question. I mean there are a great many members, a great many of them, who ask questions like this all the time. And for at least some of them, that's all they are - just honest questions.

So how do you moderate that ? Answer, you pretty much have to give people the benefit of the doubt. I mean there really isn't any other choice. Questions like that do exist, they are legitimate questions. And a lot of people do not know the answers to those questions. Also, there is no special section of this forum for posting questions like that - none. And questions like that are not even allowed to be posted in the advertising sections of the forum. So the only place questions like that can be asked is in the regular sections of the forum - just like this one was.

Now I want to say one last thing, as I have already told you, I give people the benefit of the doubt. I instruct the mods to give people the benefit of the doubt. But the rest of you, well that's up to you. Sure, you can make posts like some did in this thread - and doubt all ya want. Or you can do what I do. But if ya doubt, then what ya should do is report it and let a mod decide. Not voice your doubts. All voicing your doubts does is cause discontent within the forum. And quite frankly, we're all better of without it.

And hopefully everyone here will read that for what it is - a suggestion, not an instruction.
