Not sure other than it's Islamic & very worn. I try to steer clear of private ID auctions. Price seems high to me.
I have purchased from him both online and in his store. His storefront is probably like it was in the 1950s. Very old school... Ask him questions with regard to weight and size...I would assume he will answer promptly. Check out his ebay store as well for lots of Israel material.
Tell me if I'm wrong, but they appear to show only one side of the coin. I would never ever buy a coin for which I cannot see the other side.
That's why I asked here about it. I thought maybe it was a type that was only struck on one side, or something.
My bad, he does show both sides, they are quite similar. I would place it as 1840-1860's Ottoman Egypt due to the edge design, but it should have the Ottoman seal, or toughra, on one side and I don't see it. So I dunno.
I think it is definitely earlier than 1840 - 1860, but he doesn't help himself by posting one picture sideways and the other upside down.
Yeah, I've decided to stay away from this one. After seeing Ardatirion's post about "Love Coins", I think this one was one that was straightened out. I noticed the creases on it, after reading his post. Thanks Ardatirion !
