Many pay a lot for toning on zincs too, like this example. At $325 on eBay, a less expensive example Ive seen. I in fact know the owner and seller of this coin.
All of the zincs tone too quickly and easily. It's crap metal. The metal is degrading before our eyes. Yes the proof coin has some value. But left in the elements that $325 coin will be rotted away. We might as well make coins out of aluminum foil. It was an absolute disgrace when they transitioned a copper cent to a clad zinc piece of garbage.
I don't think it is worth the cost of grading. Think about how much it would sell for, and how much that would cost. If you are selling it, you will make more raw (IMO).
Here are two similar examples PCGS graded. PCGS PF67RB Being sold for $400 PCGS PF66BN Being sold for $325 I might purchase from you and sub if you don't sub it, unless your not selling.
I agree. The proof coins I like more, but Im very open minded, you see I like coins that are unique. Your never going to have the same toner.
Your 1967 is worth a penny. That green stuff on the reverse is very bad. In 1982 they switched from copper, to zinc with a copper coating. Some in 1982 are still copper and some are zinc. 1983- now zinc. 1981-before copper.
Yes, 1982 was the year. It technically is worth 2 cents, because the copper is valuable. And that is the exact reason they switched to zinc cents.
