    One of the collector coins that the Spanish Mint (FNMT-RCM) issued this year shows seven historic coins - pieces that have something to do with the "genesis" of the dollar.

    Could be interesting, you think? Right, but think twice before buying one. :) That is a 1 kilo silver coin, with a diameter of 10 centimeters. The face value is €300 but it costs about 1,500 euro (plus VAT where applicable) ...

    The obverse (left) shows three coins:
    - on the left, a Spanish real de a ocho,
    - at the top, a US dollar from 1794,
    - on the right, a Joachimsthaler.
    It also features the portrait of King Felipe; the inscriptions referring to the history of the dollar are in Spanish and English.

    The reverse (right) has images of four coins:
    - at the top, a Dutch Leeuwendaalder,
    - on the right, a Nordic Speciedaler,
    - at the bottom, a Maria Theresia Thaler,
    - on the left, a Reichstaler with a Wild Man.

    Not sure how many would want to buy the piece, but it is an interesting compilation. Maybe a book with these images will do. :)

    cool coin for the "coins with small coins as the design itself collection", but I am not liking the price of it.

    1,500 EURO = 1,779.74USD:greedy::greedy::greedy:

    It's really a shame that so many of these mints are trying to suck every last possible penny they can and not leave any meat on the bone. That coin has a great look and would love one but the 17-1800 it would cost is far to much of a risk, to many other coins can be purchased in the price range
