what's up with this Morgan?

My question is why would a coin like this be in a belt buckle. It makes me sad when I see coin bezels with nice coins in them

I've seen some pretty lame belt buckles that people cheap out on and don't always use the right size either. Also seem some horse tack that had ruined coins in them because someone thought they were an artist. Buffalo nickels ground down to fit in a dime sized mount. Only the head and buffalo showing. Strictly amateur and who knows what dates they used. I think at this point we are only guessing but until something concrete comes around, it's a shake to the left and a shake to the right.

It wasn't that long ago that these coins were worth $5. And it made a large and attractive belt buckle.
