Where did you run across this one?

 

eBay thee years ago. I spotted what I thought (and think) night be evidence of an overstrike. I think there is a K from (NEW YOR)K in the obverse field. When I received it, the weight indicated I was on to something.


The 1795 NC-2s were both stuck on TAL Tokens so there is evidence some of them were used in Large Cent production as well as those cut down for Half Cent production. I just came across a 76 which is also underweight might also be a TAL Token, but it's less noticeable than this one. Would that make it 76c?

 

I don't have many coins that are really rare. This is probably my best. Clashed with a $20 die.

That's a bucket lister for me. There are plenty for sale, but I want to cherrypick it.

 

Probably this one-a 1913 Var One 3 1/2 legged Buffalo-probably fewer than 25 known

 

That's how I found mine.

 

These were also clashed with 1857 seated halfs.

It can still be picked. I've cherried 3 raw ones over the past 5 years and had them certified and sold. An AG03, an AG details damaged, and an AU details heavily corroded.

 

Is there any chance it's actually clashed with the Eagle rather than the Double Eagle? The hair shape is right except the angle between the chin and the neck is more obtuse than the Double Eagle.

 

I picked about a dozen of the ones with the quarter clash but that was many years ago.

 

I can't tell you. Would the size of the clash match?
