He likes all Japanese stuff and yes he's tried to get me to buy one of those old Dansco albums!! He did recently aquire Akita 100 mon piece that was on his dream list. Of course he likes the big silver Yen coins. He's really gotten into identifying Chinese cash coins. Local dealers ask him to help identify and date Japanese and Chinese. Was not my area of collecting!

My 9 year old just purchased his first 1/10 gold eagle and is so happy. He also bought a pcgs 1848 XF large cent. Go figure!

And the 6 likes toned slabbed Morgan's. I'm in trouble. :)

I remember saving up from my first summer job at age 16 to buy my first US gold coin. It was an 1857 $5 piece, maybe F-VF-ish. Still remember it fondly. Prior to that (age 15) my first gold coin ever was one of those "1915" Austrian ducat restrikes.

My first US gold coin came at age 29 after winning second prize at the raffle from the Baltimore coin show (I only spend $5 in tickets!). Cleaned/worn $2.5 Liberty Head common date. My oldest daughter was gifted an MS70 first strike gold Mercury Dime for her birth from a good friend of mine. My daughter, who can't even say the word coin yet, got the first gold coin in the family.
