Sorry for the time lag. My phone wasn't being cooperative and my photo edit/posting got held-up. Apologies to Montcollector & Pickin and Grinin.

    One Dollar:
Two toned halves make, well, one dollar.

A biga is drawn by two animals. A quadriga is drawn by four animals. This coin depicts a biga of mules:

    image.jpg
    SICILY, Messana
    AR Tetradrachm
    480-461 BC

    17.21 grams, 25 mm.
Obv: Biga of mules (an apene) driven right by seated charioteer. Nike above crowning mules.
Rev: Hare bounding to right with spray of olive beneath. MEΣΣA.ИIOИ. (retrograde Ns).

I understand that Anaxilas won the mule-biga race at the very FIRST Olympic games of 484 or 480. This event is commemorated on the obverse of this tetradrachm.

You guessed it. The next theme is Olympics.
