Purchased two 1/2 oz proofs for $780 each because of low mintage. I see asking prices on Ebay $1095 to $3200 on Ebay. What is true price for this coin? Also purchased four coin 2006 Platinum proof set from mint, what's going price for this set Thanks
True price only matters to how much others are willing to pay. On ebay you only need two people to drive up the prices.
There are two answers to your question. Currently an .oz of Platinum is in the ball park of $1348-$1353 - As you paid $780 each, this is probably not a prudent sale based on weight. So we have to look at numismatic value, and unless your particular coin(s) are slabbed and graded high, I am seeing prices between $665 and $1025 per unslabbed coin. So (fl)e-bay seems to be right in the ball park. It would seem that gxseries is correct in his answer. There are a lot of resources available for you to research your coin price. Good luck to you.
