I have been continuing to use http://www.error-ref.com/ as a reference for things that I think may be errors. This quarter is extremely odd and I was hoping for some feedback. It gets even stranger to me when I look at it rotated 90° CW (look at 6 o'clock in the 3rd pic). Weight is normal. What stands out to you the most about this?
Fair enough. One thing I found interesting is that the third pic somewhat resembles the bottom of Lincoln's bust on the penny. Not saying it is that. Also looks like Washington has a Hulk Hogan mustache, but I don't think that qualifies as an error.
That would be impossible. Why?... A Quarter planchet would not fit into a Cent chamber to be struck by a Cent Die. What you are seeing is Pareidolia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia
First, that Hogan coin/token is very impressive. And yeah I tend to look at stuff so long and hard that I tend to make weird things appear. Thanks for having a sense of humor about my observations. Now I can just throw that quarter in my jar of weird coins and move on to the next.
I keep seeing someone saying ( DAMAGE ) but if that's the case someone was really upset with the 1998 Pennsylvania quarters because I have one with similar damage and I also have a 1940 Jefferson nickel that's as thin as a dime and Only has a Weight of 2.5 g.
Yours are damaged as well. By the way. This thread is from 2019. It would be best to start your own new unique thread. And pictures are always needed Remember this, we are the mint error specialists. I have been collecting, studying and attributing true mint errors for almost 40 years. And many others here on CoinTalk. When we state it's damage it definitely is.
Welcome to CT. This thread started 8 years ago. The coin pictured by the OP is damaged. Please start your own thread and post photos of both sides Olin full frame.
