Is it just me or do you think the 2005 L&C BUFFALO Nickel Mint Rolls are going to be the first sell out for the Mint??
Nope - I think the Proof sets will beat 'em by a mile. At least until they decide to strike some more
NO as the mint can strike them up to 9 months and believe me they will keep on stiking if the orders keep rolling in. The buffalo nickel probably won't reach circulation like the Mint and Federal Reserve thinks it will as the dealer network will gobble them up as fast as they leave the Fed. I think this will be the coin of 2005 and have already placed a HUGE order with my dealer. Time will tell.
You have to take into consideration that the rolls offered by the Mint are circulation coins. They really have NO LIMIT in the number that they can offer for sale.
Hopefully, most of us have learned our lesson about the quality of the coins in these "Mint rolls". With a little patience, we can get the same coins from our local bank, at face value.
No Large Quanity 2005 Nickels They can do a quick sell out of these. I think it's probably Kool to get a roll or two. To buy any more than that, I feel, would be a waste. I can think of several coins that would be more profitable to own as time passes. To each his/her own however that's why coin collecting is so diverse. catman
I certainly learned my lesson regarding the quality of the coins in the mint rolls! Think I will get mine from a dealer and check the quality before I make the purchase. I know the Mint has a return polich for coins, but just how would it work for opened rolls of nickels? Would they take opened rolls back?
I would be very eager to hear just how many of you actually get rolls of buffalo nickels from your bank? Unless you live near a very large facility or bank headquarters your chances of getting both the P and D will be slim to none and I am not real sure an awful lot of these coins will even make it to the banks. There is money to be made between the time the rolls leave the Federal Reserve and the local banks and the armored car services are well aware of that money. If your bank calls out $10,000 in nickels there is absolutely NO GUARANTEE they will receive new nickels and even then they could be mixed rolls. This should be interesting and I do hope someone starts a post advising buffalo nickels made it to their bank(s). I think we will be surprised at how few posts are posted!!!
I would have to agree with crystalk on this one, as neither of the 2004 nickels have reached banks in this area to date. In fact, the banks say they don't expect to receiver any this year. No, you won't be buying any from your local small town bank next year either. Sorry!
Except for State Quarters, around here (Western New York) I have not seen ANY new rolls of coins for several years, and includes cents, nickels, dimes, halves and dollars.
Im glad you said that, I thought it was just me. Except for state quarters new coins are few and far between in WNY. I still don't have a 2003 nickel, have not seen even 1 in circulation. The new cents used to show up in late January but it was fall before I spotted my first 2004 cent.
Power of the Buffalo!!!! I glad to see the opinions on this thread and thanks!! Now should we underestimate the power of the BUFFALO, I personally DON'T like the one on the 2005 nickel, it's not even a contest to the original. The obverse on the Dollar is close but even that dosen't come up the it either!! If you're into the nickels you will only get 2 in each proof set, I like the performance of the Peace nickels much, I was hoping to pick up a enogh Mint rolls, to be able to sell some to pay for the rest I'd like to keep and give to my extended family! It's going to be an exciting 2005 and the Mint will be the big winner, of course!!
