I have read this post from beginning to end and I would like to thank @GDJMSP for putting forward the Moderator's 'view'. I have never been a 'Moderator' and have been a member of only one or two other forums. I understand the "Welcome to my home" analogy (one that was well put, in my mind).
(If I am right) C.T. is the brainchild of Peter Davis. It is owned by Peter Davis. It was set up and is run by Peter Davis (with the help of others). As such we (members) are only 'visitors'. The site permits 'visitors' an opinion within the bounds of the reason that the site exists. but the site is not a 'democracy'.
Democracy is not a "One size fits all" thing. We fight for 'democracy' in governments, but some things are not a 'democracy'. (i.e. Religion, The Military, Education, The Workplace, Aging (et. al.), and as such we work within the guidelines that others have set. C.T. is but one more of these.

Have you ever had a 'Speeding Ticket' or a 'Parking Ticket'? Every one is different in one way or another, but each has one thing in common. It exists as the result of perception of a transgression of 'the rules'. Penalties apply for that transgression.
What happens next is up to us. No-one else. What we then decide to do is (again) up to us, and no-one else.
This is a great place. (It was before I arrived. It has been since I arrived, and it will be after I have gone.) Let us not forget that. Thank you Peter.
