I’ve put together a starter collection of ancients... ...for one of our new members and was so thrilled with the way it turned out—I wanted to share it with my forum friends. It includes some bronzes from a few of the great kingdoms of antiquity. I’ve acquired a few of these from my ancient forum friends to whom I am grateful. Call me crazy but much of the joy that I receive from collecting ancient coins is from giving them away. I’m no saint, believe me! I used to be an angry, selfish, paranoid jerk. Something happened to me ten years ago when I got clean and sober (Thanks to the help of the Father and a lot of good friends). I stopped thinking only of myself and started helping people who needed help. Anyway I’m helping our newest and possibly youngest member kick-start his collection with a few of the coins that brought me joy for a while. So if anyone would like to join in helping this fine young man get started on his journey through the dark side—his name is Nick @NLL.
Deacon Ray, You are one of the most generous people I've ever met and I'm inspired by what you do for others! Thanks for everything that you do! Erin
Wow Deacon Ray. I continue to be impressed by your generosity. Saint or not you're a good guy in my book.
Two thumbs up Ray....without new members, and youger blood this hobby will just die like we will....true not a happy thought....but the hobby, and it's passion needs to be handed down. It's truly rewarding to see that spark of passion fire in the eyes of a new numismatic member no matter what age. Working coin shows and seeing especially female's joining the ranks of their male counter parts , or a mother showing a shared interest with her child gives me hope. Hope that a hobby I have enjoyed both in my youth and now senior years will like the disc we collect withstand the test of time. Nice random act of kindness Ray....great job as for the finished product both the set and...yourself!
