I recently inherited a portion of my grandfather's coin collection. At this time I don't have pictures (just got it in the mail yesterday), but I have started recording what I have. If anyone has advice on what may be worth some money, I will focus on taking pictures of those items first.

I received 5 albums from "World Coin Library",
    Book 8100 Lincoln cents - ranging from 1909 V.D.B to 2016 S
Sadly no 1909 S V.D.B. most everything else though

    8125 - Roosevelt Dimes 1946 - 2013 P
    8146 - Washington Quarters America the beautiful national parks 2010 - 2015
    8147 - Washington Quarters America's beautiful national parks 2016 - 2021 (only 2016)
    8176 - Eisenhower Dollars 1971 - 1978 S Proof

There are lots of carded and loose coins as well, but I didn't want my post to be too gigantic, but I'm happy to post those as well.

Sorry for your loss. Without images, about the best we can do is refer you to eBay sold prices so that you can see real world prices, coin price guides are generally very inflated.

Thank you. The research I've done keeps saying to get the red book, but with the caveat you pointed out; I'm not going to get the prices that book states. I understand pictures are going to tell a better story, and I will be working on getting those soon.

Welcome to CT. With the Lincoln cents, look for the 14-D and the 31-S

Welcome Greenflannel to CoinTalk! Sounds like you received a nice amount of coins, although from a less than pleasant situation. If you post pictures with questions, the experts will comment and answer them with great information. If the books, other than the Lincolns are full, you have the beginning of a nice collection.

Welcome, also look for the 09S, 10S, 11S, 12S, 13S, 14S 15S, 22D, 24D & 26S These are all semi-keys and are of modest value. These are the money coins along with the other two listed above.

Condition means everything in regards to possible values. We will better be able to help once you are able to post photos. Nice and clear and cropping out all extra areas to give us the best possible chance to help. Even modern issues can carry a nice premium if they are in the highest grades possible. And welcome to CT.

I have all of these in my book. It looks like the only one missing from the collection is the 1909 S V.D.B. I plan on taking pictures tonight when I'm off work; I got the good camera's batteries charging now.

I hope this works, I apologize if the pictures aren't perfect; I'm not the best photographer out there. But here are some of the cents listed above.

You have a couple of the key dates there. I'll let someone else comment on grades or possible value.

I will work on getting more pictures done this weekend; I didn't realize how much time it really takes to photograph, crop and upload. Good thing it's fun!

This is a good (and easily navigable) site to get a rough estimate of value, the 31S looks to be in the Fine range grade wise, the 14D is also a key date coin so those are probably your two most valuable of the wheat cents assuming they're all in similar condition.

The 31 S is a at least F 12 and with a better picture, might grade VF! It is a sleeper in the Lincoln series and someday it will be recognized as it should be.

Thank you all for your help! I took my collection to a dealer to get an appraisal, and it was quite a bit lower than expected. He said my 31S and 14D were fakes and obviously have no value (maybe $0.01?). He offered $175 for the entire Lincoln cent book with the offer that I could have the fakes. The rest of the collection appears real, all of my loose coins and other albums were fine, but the offer was still quite low in my opinion. I will remove the fakes from the book, and am considering putting up the other albums on ebay to see if I have any luck there.

    here's an idea:

take the "fakes" out and ask if the dealer still wants to buy the album for the same price.

It will tell you whether or not the offer was on the level.
