while i was in kansas city, we stopped in a small town called herman missouri. there are alot of antique shops in this town. anyway, there was this one shop with a glass display case and i looked inside and i saw coins! most of them were overpriced like a 1936 walking liberty half for $10, and stuff like that. i saw this 1926S mercury for $8.50. i figured since i didn't have it yet, and it was a rarer date i would buy it. i should't have paid more than $5 for it, but the value can always go up in time. just thought i'd share this with you guys to give me an estimate of what condition its in and whats it worth. there was also a 1921D mercury in the case for $55. it was in AG condition with worn off rims, but you could still see the date and mintmark good. i didn't feel like spending that much on a coin yet anyways.
Sounds like a fun shopping trip. Sometimes I just enjoy looking at the coins, even if I'm not really going to buy.
I don't think you got ripped off or anything. Herman, MO is an awesome little town. You could make that into a vacation of its own. Alot of wineries, antique shops, beautiful views of the river, and German heritage. If you weren't a YN I would reccomend going to Octoberfest in Herman. LOL
