I came across a Massachusetts 2000 D 50 States Quarter. It is all copper on the front and 95% copper on the back. There is the tiniest sliver of silver across the top. It has quite a bit of dirt on it and I don't want to damage it by cleaning. Does anyone have advice about it's worth, should I avoid cleaning it? I compared it to a normal Quarter and it is much thinner, so it is definitely missing the clad. I'll try to upload pics tomorrow.
Episode of Judge Judy Judge Judy: I'd like to see your photos. Plaintiff: Sorry, I didn't bring them with me. Judge Judy: Where did you think you were going today? The beach?
I love how people want to ask questions about a coin that we'll have to see in order to determine what's going on with it but yet they don't have pictures. Gotta love it.
I do have pictures, just need access to my computer to upload them, can't from my phone. I wasn't trying to be a pain, I did research and it seems like this Quarter in particular does tend to have this issue, I'll be uploading the pictures in the next few hours. Thank you.
I'm having trouble getting a good picture of the back because it's so dirty, but the back is all copper except for the very top, the "ACHUSE" part of "MASSACHUSETTS" and the very top of "788" in "1978". The front looks to be all copper except for a slight shine of silver on the "LLA" section of "DOLLAR". Those two sections of the coin (front and back) are the exact same part of the coin, they line up. Hope that helps.
@Copper Quarter What you have is Environmental Damage I metal detect and find dozens of Quarters like yours all the time. Dirt, soil and sand changes the color of the Clad Layer
