That die was cook, more then a crispy cream donuts ...

Your coin is suffering from extreme die deterioration. It makes it worth 10c!

Late die state doubling. It happens. Most interesting, though.

 

And it ESPECIALLY seems to have happened a lot in the early half of the 1980's. The working dies were worked hard and even the hubs from which the dies were made were overdue for reworking. The next rehubbing took far too long and resulted in the low relief blecch hubs of 1992-98 that among other things gave us spaghetti hair Washington Quarters.
