1999 New Jersey coin huge error

    Someone can tell me about this kind of error. Also have letters engraved on the nose.

    A hit on the nose and a blob of solder on the neck. In other words, damage.

    I'll try with better quality. The nose have clear letters engraved on it.

    It doesn't look like letters to me. No offense intended, but we get a lot of coins posted here that people think are something they really aren't. When you have a better understanding of the minting process, the first thing you would ask yourself is, "If this were a true Mint error, at what stage in the minting process could this have occurred." If you can't provide a logical answer, then it is most likely damage.

    I don't see letters, but I believe you. My guess is still with the above, damage. If they are indeed letters, are they mirror-image, or correct orientation? Mirror means it was struck with something that happened to have raised letters on it. Correct orientation (which IMO is less likely), would be a counter stamping of some sort.
