Cool little find. Interesting how there are made. Got one with the hammer die, would be cool to find another one with the same effect on the anvil die, which is less common. I took this using a new macro lens for my iPhone that a friend whos mom advertizes gadgets gave me.Lighting is difficult however and so is using it on my sual camera setup (7+ back 3.99mm lens, however they only fit one lens).
Nice find I wonder how the picture would look just using the normal iPhone lens without the attachment

It is both. As paddyman said without a misaligned die, the collar would have no way to have this appearance. When the misaligned hammer die is struck, the reeds indent the collar. However, the story is a little different on anvil dies. -SC
I believe you. But maybe one shot using the normal camera lens. Could sometimes be much better, I have learned.
